Press Release Summary: Recently a 4 day (from 22-25th February 2008) music & dance festival, was organised by The Ravishankar Centre and United Nations World Food Programme, at The Ravishankar Centre, Chanakyapuri. The festival was dedicated to the Late George Harrison on his 65th Birth Anniversary.
Press Release Body: Recently a 4 day (from 22-25th February 2008) music & dance festival, was organised by The Ravishankar Centre and United Nations World Food Programme, at The Ravishankar Centre, Chanakyapuri. The festival was dedicated to the Late George Harrison on his 65th Birth Anniversary. The four-day festival was fulfilled with rich & thrilling performances by Yamini Reddy (Kuchipudi), Satish Vyas (Santoor), Ajay Prasanna (Flute), Ranjani Gayatri (Vocal), M Venkatesh Kumar (Vocal), Barun Kumar Pal (Hamsa Veena) & Rajan Sajan Misra (Vocal). The festival also featured Akram Khan, Kaushalya Reddy, Vinod Lele, Shailendra Mishra, Vinay Mishra and Subhajyoti Guha. One of the main attractions of the festival was the presence of Sitar Legend Pt. Ravi Shankar himself in the audience on all four days. Other than him many eminent personalities like Smt. Sukanya Shankar, Oliviya Harrison, GianPietro Bordignon (Country Head, UNWFP, India), Anoushka Shankar, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Shalu Jindal, Sharon Lowen and many foreign tourists were also present there. The festival started with a scintillating performance by young & talented Kuchipudi dancer Yamini Reddy who is one of the most promising disciples of Raja-Radha Reddy. It was followed by the Santoor recital by Padmashree Satish Vyas. Other three evenings were equally enriching with brilliant performances by Ajay Prasanna, Ranjani Gayatri, M Venkatesh Kumar, Barun Kumar Pal & Rajan Sajan Misra. The festival came to an end with a grand performance by Padmabhushan Pt. Rajan-Sajan Misra who were given standing ovation by the Legendary Sitar Maestro Pt. Ravi Shankar himself.
